'be yourself day' in school today.
Thinking back about all that happened today,
it suddenly dawned on me that,
is this really myself?

idk. So many classes, so many different themes. Nerds, Powerpuff Girls, victims of tsunami at a beach, etcetc. But really, is this yourself? All of them seem to take pride in their class theme, portraying themselves as who they 'are'. But is everyone that dress up as nerds, nerds? Or even worse, powerpuff girls? And what does our hoodies and mixed shoes means? We're down to earth, yet weird/mismatched? Is this really myself? There's so many sides of a person. Noone really only stays happy and positive all the while. So how can just one set of clothes portray yourself? Even if it really does portray you as who you are, that doesn't mean that the rest of your classmates are exactly like you. Everyone's different. We can't just say that what we wear represents who we are. If what we wear rep who we are, does that mean that someone dressed up beautifully with perfect makeup and perfect hairdo is perfect as a person, is perfect and beautiful on the inside?
At times, what we wear does somehow and somewhat portray a little of who we are. But I guess we all dress up because people expects us to. After all, what's with the certain dress codes that restaurants/concert halls have. What if someone has a fetish of wearing only undergarments? Will she walk around on the streets clad only in her undergarments? Unless you're not of sane mind, you probably won't do that. Also, if what we wear was to rep who we are, then there won't be an element of surprise and joy in meeting and knowing people anymore. Because this way, I can tell what Obama or a russian mafia is like without even having to know him personally.
Most of the time, we just see what/how people dress, pick a style we like and sort of follow suit. And that is probably how fashion and style came about. After all, people with the same fashion taste does not mean that they share the same personality and behaviour. If it is, then there will be many replicals of ourselves on the streets. I don't think I know myself so well to the extent that I can comment so much on such a topic, but I guess that's what our life is for. Along the way, we slowly find out who we really are. It's not like people do not change and mature with age right.
I am pretty sure that hoodies do not rep me as who I am, but more of what I like to wear and what I think looks good enough for me. This sort of 'be yourself day' should probably be changed to something else. Like maybe, 'wear anything you like' day. After all, what we wear doesn't really portray us as who we are, does it?

I know this doesn't sound like it makes any sense at all, but heck. I'm too tired to think at this time. Anw, it's an edit of my prev. post.
